According to the requirements of product quality and productivity, the casting machine can be equipped with open flow pouring and/or subsurface flow pouring (plug/sliding door).

The beam blank machine can also be designed to cast multiple profiles at the same time, such as a maximum of 200 mm square blank, a maximum of 300 mm round blank, together with blanks.

Combined profiles, together with other solutions (such as rigid dummy bars used to shorten profile replacement time), provide the ultimate customer with the greatest flexibility in order management, and have relevant advantages in terms of competitiveness and rapid response to changes. 

In beneficial cases, ABAX can equip the casters with a special strand-reheating systems to control the beam-blank tip temperature before entry the straightening zone. This is particularly important when micro-alloy steel grades are cast in large beam blanks ,both to optimize metallurgical properties and avoid transverse cracks. In addition, ABAX mold tubes have a very positive impact to reduce web crack formation.

Beam-blank sections range from 250 to 1150 mm wide and 150 to 500 mm high. At present, the maximum beam blank section height is 490mm, width is 1'150mm, and web thickness is 130mm. This requires a new approach to the design and size of the mold and the overall setup of the continuous casting equipment.
