ABAX Copper Mould Tube Successfully Continuous Casting SS304 Stainless Steel Billet in Indian Steel Mill
In recent years, the import of stainless steel in India has increased significantly, and the import from Indonesia and China has increased significantly. After the elimination of countervailing and anti-dumping duties and the reduction of stainless steel import tariffs in 2021, the volume of stainless steel imported from Chinese Mainland, Indonesia and Hong Kong increased by 138%, 94.5% and 580% respectively year on year.
In 2022, the amount is still increasing. According to the data of the Indian Ministry of industry and commerce, since 2022, the main countries of Indian import have been China and Indonesia, of which the proportion of stainless steel imported from Chinese Mainland, Indonesia and Hong Kong of China is as high as 36%, 29% and 11%. From January to April, the cumulative volume was 110000 tons, 89000 tons and 34000 tons respectively, with year-on-year growth of 25%, 146% and 266.7%, and the volume is still gradually increasing. To gradually get rid of the dependence on imports, Indian steel enterprises need to increase their investment in stainless steel production.
In June 2022, ABAX STEEL successfully passed the hot test of copper mould tubes exported to India, adding another loyal copper tube user to the ABAX family. This customer uses R9m continuous casting machine to produce SS304 stainless steel billet, and purchased 20 pieces copper tubes with section 140×140 sq. mm from ABAX as trial order. According to the characteristics of stainless steel hot liquid, ABAX has designed copper tubes suitable for continues casting stainless steel billet. At present, the copper tube mould are in good condition. The photos sent by the metallurgical experts of ABAX group India sub-company confirmed that the finished products SS304 stainless steel billet was up to the standard. Now ABAX factory is ready to provide high-quality mould tubes for Indian market.
